Lfs Said I Can But My Betta With My 5 Platies.

Think I've mentioned this to you before but maybe not. My juvies grew up with platies the same size as them with no problems up to 6 weeks old and then they started to attack so had to take them out. These were only females too as the males were already jarred so I wouldn't risk it personally

i dissagree completely. it depends soley on the individual betta, they typically wont attack fish out of color, but rather the fact that they have long flimsy flashy tails that would resemble that of another betta's. i say stick your betta with the platys and see how he acts, if he begins to attack them, you can pretty much expect him to attack anything else as well. most bettas will be just fine in a community of platys, mollys, or swordtails, but no one betta is going to behave exactly like another.

Nobody can answer that, my small tank has danios and mollies and my betta has never attacked any of them.

If you can get bettas quite young (bettaman has great supplies) then you may have more luck than a grown adult that has usually been bred in isolation or in banks.

I put him in with the Platies for about 5mins and watched what they all did, But i didnt wanna chance anythink going wrong so i took him out and but him in his own bowl.

I have one of my boys is the 20g listed in my signature, he chased and flared at the other fish for a little (he wasnt used to having other fish swim by him), then he settled and kept to himself. He's been there for over a week now...no problems.

My DT is in with platies, glowlights, silver dollar, Emerald eye rasboras to name but a few and he's not attacked any of them! He just keeps himself to himself most of the time even though he does occassionally chase the platies from his corner at feeding time! Other than that they all seem to get on great!

Also one of my two newest bettas that I bought this wkend was in a tank full of male guppies and they all looked fine, I think it was my blue one who is more placid than the red who seems to flare alot at his reflection!

I think it is more to do with the bettas individual personality rather than anything else

I have had to put betta back in with platies yesterday, They all seem to be fine and there all still alive.

Karen.
