hi all as u all know cory's are becoming more and more popular on a daily basis with keeping and breeding and there seems 2 be a lot of ppl asking how 2 bring up fry so thought a thread on fry care/rearing would help the masses of ppl that are new 2 this
so..... anybody that has any advice on breeding and bringing up fry can be passed on in this thread 2 others please post pics of setups 2 how,when and wot 2 feed etc

rite i have sterbai and melini cory's breeding my ratio for both is 3 males to 2 females found this much easier on the males instead of having 1 male having 2 brunt the whole experience on his own lol my tank temps are always sat at 80-82 for these 2 species and i condition them on bloodworm , tetra prima and variety wafers.
i do a nice big 30-40 % water change when i think there ready 2 spawn which usually works and within hours sometimes a day they start 2 spawn my sterbai always lay on the glass but my melini's tend 2 lay all on plants so either way it quite easy for me 2 remove ....i remove with my fingers slowly rolling off the glass/plants till they come off and stick2 my finger (be carefull newly laid egs are really soft and tend 2 be at there most fragile i try 2 leave mine for 30-45 mins just for them 2 harden up a little and seems 2 work perfectly for me once removed i put them in a plastic container (icecream tub...sandwich box but use wotever u have 2 hand as long as its been thoughourly cleaned) with an airstone in blowing reasonalbly hard have tried a few different strenghths of flow running through airstone but for me ive found no matter wot or how much the eggs are blown around it doesnt damage them and found that this way u dramiticallly reduce fungus levels some use meth blue but for me ive never really had 2 do this ..... after 3 day usually mine hatch when they start 2 hatch i do reduce the flow through the airstone becasue ive found this does actually kill the babies due 2 been blown all over the place after 24 hours i move the fry into another container also floating in the same tank reason i do this is becasue i usually have another batch of eggs ready for the container and i just keep the eggs and fry seperatly but thats just me lol ...so once the newly hatch fry have been moved over 2 the new container i do regular water changes on it ranging from 3 -5 times a day dependant on how many fry are actually in there but found more water changed and on a regular basis prevents deaths ...i feed my fry from around 36 hours of hatching i know this isnt necersary and some leave 3 days before feeding but this way has worked for me and ive never had any problems with doing it so for me i will continue doing it this way till i do find some sort of problem..... i feed on microworm twice a day for at least the first week then finely crush tetra prima and altinate between the prima and microworm always feeding microworm that slightly more often again this is just my process and it works for me
once fry get 2 about 1 cm i have a cycled 12x10x10 tank ready for them 2 continue there growing which has a sponge filter conected 2 an airstone from this point i feed once aday on again both microworm and crushed tetra prima with a daily water change found this 2 be sufficient but i do accasionally do 2-3 water changes again depent on how many fry are actually in the tank the tank is bare bottom and has a few moss balls in so its much easier 2 clean on a daily basis
well as ive said this is just my process and i thought id share lol hopefully it will be of some help 2 others but i would like 2 see how others actaually do there fry rearing and know about there succes rate so please feel free 2 add pics of fry at different stages and ur fry tank setups so others can see and get ideas on wot would work better for them
