Well after researching for a few days now....I've decided to make the jump into a UV filter to replace my Emperor 280 HOB. I really don't know the disadvantages to it except it might make my fish immune system weaker since it kills off parasites and bacteria ... etc. But I do know the advantages of running it does sound pretty beneficial,
-Clears algae/cloudy water
-Prevents parasitic and bacterial infections
-Prevents the spread of infections from host to all other fishes
-Will not harm your fish

I picked up a 24 watts at 94GPH unit rated at 100Gallons for my 55gallons. Its a very large unit and has a control unit outside of the tank. I actually had to purchase a extra tall fake plant to try to cover up that filter! Here is some pics of the Unit

though if any of you have any comments or experience that would be greatly appreciated!!

Well had the unit run for 24 hours now and first impression.....
The water used to be a little cloudy(white) but its so clear now......Just amazing. Also I used to have a 1 or 2 fishes do a little scratch and swim on the ornaments. But after observing them all day today they have completely stopped. :good:
Here is a picture of the water difference, not sure if you can tell but its cleared up!

I believe it does look clearer. I see All Pond Solutions do external filters with built in UV on the two larger models. Wondered what they would be like.
