Cleaning the pump intake yesterday we washed out a leech. Red/Brown about 3cm long - longer when it stretches, shorter when it doesn't.

The pond has 8 goldfish/shubumkins ranging from 2 inches to 4 inches long. I'm waiting for them to grow into the 1000 gallon pond  .

Are they in danger from the leeches or only if they get sick?

How can I get rid of the leeches anyway cause even if the fish are okay - 1) they're gross 2) occasionally they will grab me when I'm doing maintainance.

Thanks

There really isnt much you can do about leeches unless you manually remove them. You could try salting and that would only really work if you dont have strong plants.

yup paragon will do it, or more precisly paragon P.
made by waterlife products and should be available in any decent LFS.
