i like the idea of getting an LED moonlighting kit for my tank and have sourced a few on ebay that sound ok but was wondering if anyone has actually bought one......
they are about £18 i think for the kit which includes 2 x LED strips, fixing kit and adjustable power unit that controls the brightness by reducing the wattage i think!
i would do a link but i dont know how to......... can anyone tell me how to do this?

to copy a link just go up to the address bar highlight it hold Ctrl and push C then come to this click as if your about to start typing and hold Ctrl and hit V :)

cant help about the led kits though sorry XD

were your lights from the same seller?

doh! just saw the link

what size tank is that?

how do they fix to the hood?

sorry about all the q's.....

I brought 2x30cm strips from specialist lighting uk, they were great, i superglued them to my hood, although, it would be best to cable tie them onto the black blocks supplied.

mine burnt out after about 5 months :( not sure if im going to get something else or buy some more...

Ok so the tank is a 4 foot Fluval Roma. I attached the lights by very carefully drilling small holes in the water side of the top plastic capping (there was a 5mm clearance between the plastic capping and the glass)and using cable ties. This also allows each light to be directed where ever I wish. For the money I felt they were the best available and am very pleased with them.

I just bought 2 x blue led strips from ebay, link

They're 99p+29p postage each, 30cm long and are waterproof (used for cars normally) and have a sticky back. They can be cut back too...I also got 120cm white LED strips too, but they only come in 30cm lengths for blue.

They do not include a power supply though, but any 12V one would do I think, along with the correct connector for attach to the wire ends...I bought them because I don't want a power supply included, I'm creating a circuit to fade them in and out along with white leds that will hopefully compliment my tubes.

When they arrive I let you know what I think of them, but to be honest if they aren't all that for that sort of money I won't care, I can still rip the LEDs out and use them another way if I have to :)
