Led Lighting On A Rio 180

Hi I'm a newbie here was just wondering if anyone has tried these out yet and what do they think?

To be honest it looks a bit dodgy. The fact that it uses loads of tiny LEDs rather than fewer more powerful ones doesn't fill me with confidence.
 
As in your other question we really need to know what you want to do with your tank. Depending on your intentions the stock lighting for the Rio could be enough, or this one in the link could be vastly insufficient. Mind you, 38w of tiny LEDs aren't exactly a vast improvement over the stock lighting...

Ok so I ordered two of them for my 125...not dodgy at all. These lights are just as good as any other unit out there. My only issue is the blue is a bit too bright. I have the timer on order so it will automatically turn over. The color in my fish pops now.

It's going to be a community tank with quite a few plants was gonna order a 100 plant set from ebay too. At the min as I bought the rio 180 preowned I have 2x moonlight t8 tubes in there

Depending on the plants you're getting (100 seem a but much for that tank TBH) the stock lighting might be just fine.

Also just found a company that does a 4 tube t5 fitting for £124.99 which includes 2x growth red and 2x 10k white so 4x 39w t5 tubes would this be too bright?

Let me guess, it's All Pond Solutions.
 
Again, it depends on what plants you want to stock. Some plants need bright light, some plants are benefitted by bright light (with CO2 and ferts) and some are actually harmed by too bright a light.
 
If you overlight your tank you may go up against algae issues.

Not that I know of, not more than any normal issues with any online shop.
 
I have two light units, a couple of internal filters and several pumps from them and didn't have any problems.
I got a pair of powerheads for my reef, and they weren't exceptional quality, but just fine for the price.
 
I was just guessing because the unit on their site matched your description.
