Our current tv looks to be on its way out so looking for a replacement. LED tvs seem to be the future for now so would like one of them and may as well be 3D(active) if i'm going to splash some cash. I've done a bit of reaserch on plasma,LCD and LED's and passive and active 3d, so have a breife understanding but no experiance really. So if anyone clued up on them could help me i'd appreciate that. Here what i'm lloking for
I have a budget of £1000 as its to last a good few years.
LED,HD,3D active.
Current tv is 46" i think so no smaller but not much bigger 50" max.
Has to look nice and modern to keep the Mrs happy.
Would like it to be able to convert 2D to 3D.

So far only found this http://www.simplyelectricals.co.uk/televisions/3d-led-tv/samsung-ue46d6530.html
Any help and advice is appreciated

I have a 40" LG Led tv, Hd ready though not 3D.
I'm no expert, but the picture is razor sharp, has an automatic light sensor, so adjusts the picture to the lighting in the room.
It's very very slim with no unnecessary surround, I love it

What you need to remember is that an LED tv is still an LCD tv but with LED backlighting. LED backlighting can bring the black level performance of a set on par with plasma sets. If you can, buy a plasma set.

why oh why would you have a plasma?

LED LCD last much longer have a much sharper picture and an overall better experiance

Its true the flaws of an LED LCD set wont be noticed by the majority and yes its going to be alot thinner than a plasma and consume less energy but you are wrong that a LCD unit will have a sharper picture. You are paying a premium for the LED technology which barely brings most sets on par with a decent plasma.

- Plasma sets have far better viewing angles.
- Plasma sets can produce brighter colours than LED LCD.
- Plasma sets have the ability to refresh individual cells making them far better at fast moving content.
- Plasma sets generally have a better contrast ratio.

I would still choose a plasma set over a LED LCD.

In no way are plasmas better. On a led/lcd tv, you can view the screen perfectly when standing completely to the side of the tv.

My roommate bought a 60" led/lcd tv and you cant even compare it to plasma. To me, its on a whole different level as far as picture quality. Watching blu ray movies is so realistic its unreal. Its almost like your actually watching them on set.

I have heard that plasma is far supperior when it comes to 3D, as the refresh rate is so much higher.

I have had 2 big LG sets, both LCD, and both had to be returned as they developed ghosting on the screen, big stripes both horizontally and vertically. All down to mainboard failures.

Have now swapped to a Samsung 46 inch LCD, and very happy with it.

Also have a smaller LED Samsung in the house, and the picture is most definately sharper and more colourful, but the difference does not justify the price!

I want a bigger set, and 3D, but im personally going to spend my money on a Full HD 3D Projector - about £700, for a screen size as big as my living room allows! Seeing as 3D will only be an occasional viewing experience, a projector will be the perfect thing.

Plus, can play xbox on it... :)

Or this for under £500!

i read the latest what hifi annual awards edition and if you want a TV, Panasonic are currently annhialating everybody with their tv's. the GT30 model class won everything pretty much. they're definitely plasma, and i think they're all 3d.
