i noticed after placing live plants in both of our tanks that the leaves have started to "crinkle" on the edges. i know this isn't the best description and can produce pictures if needs be.

the tank i'm currently concerned about is currently cycling and has been without proper lighting for 2/3 days.

cheers in advance!

cheers for speedy reply jen

i'm a fool and didn't ask the type. the tank has been getting virtually none as i had a faulty light control box. i'll take some pics and get back to you in 5mins

in here are three pics i've just taken. they've been deprived of light for 2/3 days. the temperature has been around 28c, but has been taken down to 25c. i'm doing a fishless cycle and i've laterite in the sand.

pH of about 7.2

hope this works, damn internet etc

That could be a good start ... plants need light !!!

i'm just making sure that there's nothing untoward going on other than the annoying lack of light recently

oh yes and i've put in some sera florena to try and help the plants grow a bit better

plus i've got a 14w light in an 8g so it's pretty low light

not really. they have numerous stems coming from what would look like a bulb if it weren't roots.

Does it sorta look like this?

nope! i'll have a look on tropica to find out what it is

i hate being a pain on here :(

your not a pain at all... some plants do that sort of thing for different reasons. If we know the plant, then we can identify the problem

Echinodorus bleheri or Echinodorus macrophyllus looks the best bet. either that or one of the ones closely related

i know i'm not a pain i just wanted someone to say something nice to me :p :D

lol. Having one of THOSE days? Ok. well, I don't know much about either of those plants, so hopefully someone else will chirp in with some information. I'n the mean time, I'll do some digging ans see what I can come up with.

Echinodorus Bleheri is an amazon sword. The leaves krinkle at the edges because there is a nutrient deficiency. You are lacking in copper I believe, so you will need to dose that in order to help with your problem. http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/aqua/art_plant_nutrient.htm That will help you, it's also where I find out what nutrients I am lacking.

Are you sure that it is amazon sword? It looks like anubias to me also, and not amazon sword.

that's the closest i've come to via the net. how on earth would i treat a lack of copper?

btw thanks for replying everyone :D

Buy a fertilizer with copper in it. Does your current fertilizer say anything about copper, if not, then you need to get another fertilizer that does have it.
