Today after getting in from work I noticed my leather toadstool was starting to close up, after 20 mins it was totaly closed and was starting to bend to one side.

Now at night it closes but I have not seen it go limp and not seen it close during the day.
My tank was a tad warm - 27c (I've got that sorted)

water stats are fine, any ideas? Do corals have 'off' days? Should I worry?

I wouldn't worry. Corals do through days at a time where they just decide to not open up. I find that my leathers routinely close up especially when propagating themselves. It is also common for them to go limp when they close up. Something could also have bothered it. Pesky little hermit crabs can often be blamed.

We need more than 'water stats'. Please advise us with the actual numbers...coral location in the tank, your other corals, type of water flow and your lighting. A photo is incredibly helpful. SH

I got one of these a few days ago, by no means do I know anything about them but mine shrivled up for a day or two after its been put in, but this morning its opening up. It seemed to develop some kind of skin on the top but as the polyps are coming out its pushing the skin off which is being blown off by the current. Hoping its normal :)

But from what I read, they do sulk after being moved so wondering if you had a rescape at all?

It's only been in there for 5 days, it has good flow over it and pretty good light. My other coral is a green star polyp and the whole colony looks better now then when I bought it. I will wait and see what it looks like today when I get home, it probably just got P'd off by something.

Yours sounds like it is moulting (I did quite alot of reading about this to figure out whether that was what was going on)
once it's finished it should be bigger and better then before.

Yeah its really coming out now looks awesome! Ive also got what looks like a baby one down to one side as well hoping that will grow up I might frag it and move that else where in the tank when it starts to get some size on it!! Saves me money :D woohoo

Everything is fine, today the coral is out in full force and looks perfect. Musta been an off day.
