Leather Shedding Constantly

For the past few weeks my toadstool has been on a shedding spree. It will close for 2 or 3 days, shed; then open for 2 or 3 days until it closes again and sheds and repeats on and on and on. Why is it shedding so much? Any ideas everyone?

sounds like something is irritating it to me is there anything at the base

A mushroom has slowly moved its way towards it, it slightly touches the stem when fully open, but otherwise nothing.

Are you running Carbon ? might be chemical warfare

Yes, I do run carbon. It's the only coral that's having any problems at all. It was closed all day yesterday and the day before and now again today, It's starting to open up as it's shedding. I don't get it

only other thing I can think off atm is its unhappy with its postion is it in high flow and / or light?

mine did this when i first bought it, must have shed about 4 times in 2 weeks, hasn't shed since and thats cos I moved it to a permant position that it seems to thrive in

I've had this leather for at least 6 months and it's only recently been doing this so I don't know why it would suddenly be unhappy. It's in the mid-lower range of the tank and gets moderate flow I would say.

I was grasping at straws tbh a hermit hasnt taken to munching it ? It might just be growing or widening its trunk mine sulked and shrank a couple of times anf the trunk is now thicker

It appears perfectly fine. When it first started doing it I thought it was just having a growth spurt too but now its sheded about 6 or 7 times in such a short amount of time. I guess I'll just keep an eye on it and see what happens..

Only other thing I can suggest is check your bulbs and see if they need replacing and check your powerheads are all working properly and clean.

Bulbs got replaced last month and i clean the powerheads weekly.
Dunno why it's having a problem.. It's open again today if on schedule it should be closing tomorrow for another shed
