Hi,

I moved my powerheads around to eliminate a dead spot (with much success, its now very turbulent) that I noticed, the green xenia and pulsing xenia are doing great!

For 2 days now, the leather mushroom has been sulking, its retracted 24/7 and the only thing it does it release loads of silky type threads out of it. The coral was fine before I moved the circulation...

Any ideas what to try? :good:

Sounds like it's shedding it's mucus layer thing (that's the technical term, of course!) to clean itself. In my coral book it says it can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks until it's finished and the polyp's come out again. My devil's finger has just started doing the same this weekend.

Hi idle!

Ahhh.... it does look like doing something like that!! Will keep and eye on it!

Thanks

Last night, the leather mushroom started to release the polyps so its got over its sulk now...

good to hear.. I wish my devil's finger would hurry up and finish.. it's my luck it'll go on for the full 2 weeks!

 My missus hates it when its all shrivelled up - she reckons it looks like a kidney or summin...??

Hope yours stops sulking too....

It's mad how different they look when they close up, isn't it?

Mine's half-open now and the closed half is shedding a lot of mucus so hopefully tomorrow night it'll be back to normal. In my book it said they shed the mucus crap regularly.. I hope not too regularly!!

Oooooh you were talking about the coral! :p
Fecking selling the kidneys to fund my marine tank
my toadstools seems to be doing it now! and lots of mucus how nice.
Dude, if you take the mucus out of the tank and fry it up in a saucepan - you got yourself a delicacy!! :dunno:

mmmm sounds nice little bit of brine perhaps .... ooo brine wrapped in mucus with a touch of hmmm salt amybe :)

ours usually sheds the mucas every 3-4 weeks , and it takes about 4 days to shed fully and return to being happy , it also gets a monk on if a hermit crab or something wanders onto it lol
