Hi all,

I've read in a couple of places that is normal for a finger leather coral to shrivel when it is about to molt. However, mine seems to do it on a daily basis. It's a new addition to my tank, been in there about 4 days. I've got some button polyps and couple of other things i cant remember the names of (coral) that are doing well.

Is this normal for a leather to be doing this, it usually collapses about 8pm, till about 10pm when it reopens again.

Should I worry?

The coral is probably quite fine. Why some shed more than others is due to a complex web of factors, including flowrate, amount of chemical/physical competition, genetics, etc. Molting is especially common and expected in new additions.

It's a very nice coral when expanded, I should add.

So long as it opens up then i wouldnt worry at all.
I have a toadstool that turns into a squidgy mess whenever my shrimp goes anywhere near it. I bet that does open up to be a nice coral
