Leaky Cannister...

When I try to get it started it leaks under the cap and down the sides.... What is the problem? How do I fix it?

I'm pretty sure I secured the cap well, the lockers on the side went down easily enough, when I push down on the cap with my hand the leaking stops but I don't want to jsut put a rock on it and expect it to be fine

Here is a picture of it, the leaking is occuring on the left side of the filter in the photo

buggered seal maybe. never heard of that filter or used it, but im assuming itll be the same as all canisters, there will be a rubber seal round the top, which creates a watertight barrier.
