Hello,

I have a pre-formed plastic pond that I got at a local garden center about 10 years ago. It has recently developed a leak and I just found a three-inch crack about halfway down. The crack is on a curved part of the pond.

Has anyone ever patched a crack like this with success? I am thinking of using silicone caulk and smearing it over the crack or maybe getting some kind of pool patch kit from a pool store. Removing the pond would be a huge undertaking, as it is surrounded by fieldstone, has a small bridge across it and has a small stream attached.

Any suggestions?

I have several goldfish and comets and some tadpoles in it. I imagine it holds about 100 gallons.

Thanks in advance!
Mark

Hi, simply pop down to your nearest store and ask for a Blagdon HDP Repair Kit (or similar Heavy Duty Polyurethane repair kit) its like a puncture repair kit for pre-formed ponds and rubber/butyl liners,

With this all you have to do is drain the pond to just below the crack, dry the area and apply the rubber like strip which bonds down over the liner, as soon as this is completely dry you can refill the pond,
