My lfs just got in some leaf fish, really cool looking! She's asking $12.99 USD.
Is that a good price? And what kind of tank mates could you keep it with.
Also she has some flounders (freshwater) and they were also called according to her asian leaf-fish. These were priced at $6.99. She said they were more of an algea-eater and should be kept with non-aggressive fish.
Anyone have any further info or advice as to the price and tank-mates?

i bought one of those flounders... only saw them once and bought 1... i paid $1.99 canadian but that was couple years ago... disappeared after about a month.. so i dont have much to say lol..... they do 'clean' the glass..... donno if theyre worth that much tho

Monocirrhus polyacanthus or South American Leaf Fish and Polycentrus schomburgki or South American Leaf Fish (Schomburk's leaf fish) are found in in north eastern South America. Polcentropsis abbreviata (African Leaf Fish) occurs in west Africa and Nandus nandus in Asia, from India to Tailand.

The South American species inhabit slow moving waters in the Peruvian Amazon. They are delicate fish for the specailist and will often only accept live foods. If the water is not to their liking they will refuse to eat full stop. The tank should have a slow filtration and be furnished with Bogwood and plants the water should be soft and slightly acidic.

Leaf fish dont really do well with tankmates and are best kept in a species tank, although you could keep them with other sedentary fish like banjo catfish and farowellas. They are difficult to feed and will only take live foods, usually small fish.

As far as im aware all so called FW flounders are actually brackish fish that do not live long without large ammounts of salt added to the water.

I was thinking of getting a freshwater flounder as I saw them once and only once at a pet store. I am not sure if they are that good though. They are interesting and they swim funni, I don't know if I should get one or not. -_-

Edit: After looking around I found this picture (They seem to be quite hard to find)

The ones at the LFS look exactly like the above picture. I think I'll continue to pass on them if they are brackish rather than a true freshwater fish. I had tried my hand at puffers a while back and it didn't go so well.
They are really cool to look at tho!
