Lava Rock

Lava rock sinks right away.

Are you using that other form of lava rock, feather rock? If so, then it can take a while. I have heard that soaking it alternately with hot and cold water a few times helps a lot.

Be careful with that stuff, it is quite sharp.

Its quite a soft rock that apparently puffers sometimes use to help keep teeth ground down, very porous darkish brown colour pored boiling water over it and let it cool but its floating quite nicely now :p

it makes excellent filter media for canisters n trickle overhead filters. i heard it was better than ceramic rings o_O? i may be wrong on that but its gd filter media lol

It could be Pumice that you're using. Pumice is the only rock that floats, and it's usually a whitish color. It's full of holes, and it is not usually used as aquarium decor. Who wants a rock that you can't get to sink back down to where you want it? :p

I held mine under water in a bucket and shook it as there is a lot of air in this rock.

N.B. If you have any Dwarf Gourami's beware!!!......mine swam through one end of a hole in the rock and would.nt fit out of the other end... had to prise him out and he was never the same again R.I.P>   :byebye:
