So last night I was watching the african butterfly tank, and I see that the male is chasing the female and nudging her in the side. I was thinking "great stuff, looks like they'll spawn". It went on for 5 minutes and looked reasonably harmless, he was simply nudging her side, and she was lining herself up to get nudged.
Then out of nowhere, with the male out of range, she literally flipped onto her back, dead.
I'm quite gutted, but I hope this is a warning to others. I had 2 in a 30g long, with plenty of space for them, and I'm guessing stress is what caused her to keel over, even though she was lining up to be spawned with.
It was very, very odd to watch.
