i have a 100L tropical fish tank, i have neon tetra, black neon tetra, rummy nose tetra and bumblebee goby. can you think of any fish that get to about 2-3 inches and are not aggresive that are brightly coloured but dont breed alot. Any ideas would be very helpful, thankyou. :good:

Bumblebee gobys are brackish fish, they will perish quickly in a freshwater tank. How long has it been in there?

Also how many of each of the tetra do you have?

Can't recommend new fish until your current stocking is confirmed.

i aquired my bumble bee gobies from a lady who bred them by accident, they were born and brought up in fresh water and have been in the tank with my other fish for about 4 months now, they eat fine, swim fine etc. they are in good shape.

I have:

5 neon tetra
3 rummy nose
3 black neon
3 bumble bee gobies

Whatever you get I wouldn't go for anything with long fins on account of your gobies. There are two species of bb gobies that are sold as such and although both are brackish fish one does tolerate freshwater just fine. The key is in their stripes, the species it needs to be is Brachygobius xanthozona which seems generally neater in appearance (i.e the black stripes are unbroken). As for what fish, have you considered rainbows? Very colourful fish and get pretty large while staying peaceful, would make a very nice centrepiece shoal. Speaking of shoals how many of each tetra do you have?

Bah crossed posts :D If I were you I'd first bring the tetra shoals up to a minimum of six, you'll likely see them be much happier with more around, maybe make the neons a slightly bigger shoal so you're not adding a lonely neon to the tank :)

right that is on my to-do list!! :good:

If i got 2 more neon tetra would that stop me from getting some larger fish? i am defo going to get 2 more but i was just wondering

Shouldn't find any problems by adding 2 then getting bigger fish later (Go on get more neons, you know you want to :D) Any thoughts on the rainbows? There's quite a few out there and some of them are beautiful, my next tank will probably be congo tetra and rainbows. They kinda look like the poor mans cichlid :D

yes im going to get three more neon tetra later on today :good: cant wait should look good!!! aha

What type of rainbow fish would you suggest?? i know there are quite alot of types but im not sure which you type you mean!!

thanks, Imi.
