Hi,

I have just been looking at my Girlfriends Goldfish and 3 out of 4 goldfish have white lumps on thier gill covers.

She has:
1 Common Goldfish
1 Black moore
2 Orandas

Its no Ich as I have dealt with ich in my own tropical tanks many times (should have quarantined) and I can find any info on the net about it.

The fish are about 4" long, so I dont think they are the cuticles that come out when breeding as I think they are too young.

the lumps are quite large bigger than ich,

any help would be great.

:good:

Could be breeding tubercles that the males get when mature. Try googling it and then images.

I thought they couldnt be them I thought they were too small yet, but hey, turns out thats what they are, from looking at the photos lol

now the GF wants to know how to breed them lol

Female goldies which can be hard to sex, but generally fatter. A large aquarium for one or two males to chase the female into lots of weed.
Once the hundreds of eggs are laid you ahve to get them out before the fish eat them. The water will stink with milt from the males. You will need large tanks to raise the young successfully.
Failing that get a pond holding a few hundred gallons and in a year or two you will have lots of babies
