Im wondering how much lighting i would need to fully light my 240 gallon, im not going to have any live plants. Im thinking of going with 2 36" flourescent fixtures, im just not sure how many strips i should get single, double, triple? Another way i was maybe thinking of going was with flood lights mounted above my tank im just not sure how to light this small pool. So if you have any ideas/suggestions im all ears.

Hi musichead707

240 gallons, what is the actual size of the tank. Height may play an improtant factor when looking at a lighting solution. I have a 100gallon and i am looking to upgrade my lighting to 6X54watt 48inch T5 lights - I want to continue to use the hood and not have to hang a lighting array above the tank.

I would guess up may be better off investing somthing like this

it all depending on what you intend to put in the tank live plants ect...

ps T5 and T8 tubes come in a range of sizes make sure you can can obtain the correct type of light in the lenght you finaly use.

hope it helps
