Hi guys so I know I usually test every other day, but I wanted to make an exception for Glitzy. Since i've been a little concerned about her. It turned out when I tested her water, a LARGE pH drop occurred just over the coarse of about 3 days! Her original pH was 7.8 and when I tested it today it at about 6.8! Almost acidic! Her alkalinity also went down. It was at a stable 80 two days ago and now it's at 40 almost nothing. How do I stable the pH and bring the alkalinity up?! Thanks please reply! This seems to be getting worse, I just tried to feed her again and once again she turned her nose at it

When you say it dropped over the course of three days, did you do a water change at the beginning of those three days?

The reason I ask is that when water comes out of the tap, it tends to have a lot of dissolved gasses in it. As those gasses gas off, the pH tends to drop and you get the water's "true" pH.

But...   Never seen that much of a drop over so little time.

You can get a "PH-UP" product, but Ive never used it.  BIG water change should bring the PH back up (Depending on your Tap water PH).

Have you tested your water from the tap, also water from the tap that has sat for 24 hours. If the source of your water has possibly dropped you might be facing a permanent battle if you use a pH raising product.

I live in London and over a month ago my tap water went from 7.4 (which it had been long as I can remember) to 6.8... and it has stayed at 6.8 since. My neons and platies seem perfectly fine... but it took my guppies about 2 weeks to adjust to the difference and I'd say they are still a little unhappy with the change.
