i am looking into building an aquarium 10 foot /6/6.
and want to how to heat it cheaply.
thanks :thanks:

you would need quite a few heaters inthat tank!

hopefully some 1 else will help you

what are you planning on having as filtration?

10x6x6 = 2692 USG
if ambient room temp = 20c
if desired water temp = 26c
then wattage required = 750W

you'd be best of going for a 1kw koi pond heater which are about £200

If you have plenty of circulation in the tank then placing a couple of 300 watt's at each end should be ok.

But if you have the money then look into a self heating canister i know Ehime pro 3's have them. this will heat the water and circulate it at the same time with a digital display of the temp, How ever it's quite expensive.

I think if you want to heat it cheaply, then why not get a smaller tank, leaving more cash to heat it properly?

One way to save on heating costs is to rap every side with 2-4" polystyrene then remove when u want to look at the fish.

Friend done this in an Garage for his red tail cat and cut the cost of heating buyaround 50%
