I have one large angelfish in my 55 gallon tank, but I want to add more..probably about 3 or 4. Is it okay, or will the large one peck off all the small ones?

i had two small ones, then after a few months i added 5 adults, very large. there was a bit of fighting trying to re-establish their 'pecking order' but it settled after a few days. my tank is a 500L though so they have plenty of room to 'cool' off from each other

they should settle ok together, if you were only adding one i'd be more wary but a group should be fine

I wouldn't keep more then 5 or 6 in that tank. Angels get more aggressive with size, so just keep and eye on the Angel and make sure he isn't being too aggressive. As others said, there will naturally be some aggression when you first add them but if he is still kicking the crud out of them after a few days you could have a problem.

Does that mean if I get four, and they grow larger..they will all begin to fight? I'd rather not buy any if that's the case..I was just thinking of pairing them off and breeding them.

No it means that there is a chance the big Angel will be pretty bossy towards the smaller guys.

Also when they pair off they will be aggressive towards anything so you'd need to move them to a different tank
