I have a Sony Vaio laptop which has stopped working (approx 6 months old but due to ex not having receipt anymore i cant get it repaired under warranty). Basically i was using it then when the battery ran low and it switched off it wouldnt turn back on. Obviously i charged it and it wouldnt turn on again so i thought perhaps the battery was faulty or the charger so i purchased both, neither of which made it work.

Any ideas what is wrong and approx cost to fix  2 suggestions so far are an overheated hard drive and the internal battery not working

Thank you xx

I don't know much about the mechanics of computers, but my macbook did something similar and they ended up replacing the logic board. I don't even know what it is or does, but might help a bit. Mine was under warranty so idk the cost.

Good luck, sorry about your computer :(

Take it back to the shop, even though you dont have the reciept, all tils log the linfo and they can actually back date to when you purchased it and match it up to know it was bought there.

This is allowed and they will sort it.

Hi Emma,
Ring Vaio Services and see if your Vaio has been registed, if so you dont need a receipt.
The number is 0870 240 2410
They should collect the Vaio and return it within about 2 days, if the parts they need are in stock.
Good Luck
Sam

My IBM did this once and this is how I got it working.

1) Remove all batteries from Laptop and Power Lead
2) Hold power button down for 20 seconds
3) Put the Power Lead in ONLY
4) Try and power up

If that doesn't work then phone Sony if it does put battery back in.

Yep - you don't need a receipt. Shops are not legally obliged to give you a receipt, therefore, it's impossible to make customers legally obliged to present a receipt. It does, however, help...
