Lancashire shops

Anyone recommend any Lancashire fish shops.

Am in Preston but can travel.

Went to Aquascope today and was a tad disappointed. Lots of empty tanks and the Kribs were all sulking on the bottom of their tank.


Was also somewhat concerned when one of the assistants said they stocked a new non-refrigerated water additive that allowed you to stock fish without performing a cycle. When questioned further he stated that it rendered the ammonia and nitrite harmless for fish. Doesn't sound like Bio-spira to me (although he did say they had tried Bio-spira and the new stuff was much better).

Also said you could add a full compliment of fish after ten days of cycling in the traditional method and poo-pooed the idea of a fishless cycle.

Hi there benzonar i live in burnley, heres a few for you:

I,ve found Aquascope to be the best in the area IMO, i,ve always found there staff to be knolageable, honest and happy to help even if it means loseing a sale (that also includes the owner steve punchard) there has been a few bad eggs, which dont tend to last.

I went to BAS in Bolton today and ended up buying a tank. They have a sale on at the moment, picked up a Juwell Rio 180 for £235 including stand. Was about £40 more at Aquascope.

They also had four types of P. Taenatius so will visit again. I know Aquascope have a lot of empty tanks at the moment, they said these will be stocked in a few weeks.

Will hopefully get round some other shops soon.
