my fry are currently...heading to 6 weeks old, and i'm just wondering when i should be expecting them to get their labryith organ?

Uhhh...at about 4 weeks. Don't they breathe surface air yet? If you notice them all going to the top for air...then they're developed.

uh...

areyou lying to me wuv??? *shakes wuv until her brains fall out*

:p sorry, and no, none of my betats go to the top for air :( they're still sitting aroiund the bottom of the tank all day  what's gong on?!

I dunno.
Yes, they should definitely begin taking trips to the top between 4 & 6 weeks.By 6 weeks the organ should be developed enough to jar the fish, without aeration.

:(

Your's really don't go up at all yet?
Maybe they're just slow developers

i dont know, but i don't see ANY of them go up to the surface at ALL (and trust me i spent enough time staring at them).

6 weeks can be jarred? but wuv i'm not even seeing color yet!

is something wrong iwth my fry :-(

-_-
Don't panic,cc

I'd give em another week or 2 before worrying. But,yeah...they should be jarrable at 6 weeks. There's really nothing you can do for them :dunno: Except add liquid vitamins to the water.

You can put bird or small animal liquid vitamins in their food. Most water softeners like Black water have vitamins in them.

hmm that's worth a shot...i'll go pick up some vitamins tmr and put some in their mw and food.

i just checked out the fry growth chart, my fry is sitting between 4 - 5 weeks old -_- could they just be slow developers becuase they ddint' have the mw when they were young? or should i be worried :/

i have another batch of newborns right nwo (2 days old) and i'd really like to find out what i did wrong so i don't repeat it with these guys

Ya know what else you can try...mixing the vitamins in with the mw's.They'll eat them and pass them on to the fry.

hmm i like that idea! so those little vitamin things that you put in the birds water for extra vitamins will work?

btw, i STILL can't get these litlte guys to eat frozen things :S i've tried the frozen daphnia, but they..argh...they just dont' want it! at this rate i'll have to eat it myself

someone refresh my memory..when do newborn bettas begin to eat mw?

Day 3 or 4 :)

And yes, bird vitamins will be just fine. I use rabbit vitamins now and then :look:

Under developed, just like a 6 month in-the-wome (sp?) baby is born prematurely.
