I want a dog.
My mom won't let me get one.
I want a dog that I could adopt must be house broken good with kids and located in Long Island,NY,USA

Well if you want it house broken and good with kids, don't get a lab puppy and maybe don't get a lab unless you have tons of time to train it; they're nice dogs but if they're not well trained they tend to become overbearing and will bowl kids right over with their enthusiastic affections. Furthermore, they are obese-prone and have a lot of genetic illnesses since they are a fad breed right now, something that is effectively ruining them genetically.

Have you checked petfinder.com? I'm sure there are plenty of smaller, healthier dogs there who need a good home that would be already house broken and good with children. I think that there is a massive ASPCA in NYC, too, and they are very strict on behavior testing so you might be able to find a good, reliable dog there. Good luck.

I have to agree on the part that most labs have problems due to thier being over bred.
I adopted my 2nd lab and she suffers from allergies terribly (I believe from overbreeding in her blood lines)

Also they DO need alot of time spent with them as they are VERY energetic!!
Both my labs go to school (on going) and are full of energy.
I haven't heard about "fat" labs before although of course if you overfeed as with anydog , you will get an obvious outcome.

My oldest lab is 6 and he still has a tendency to "bowl" me over. they are very strong dogs and are not for everyone.

With training, time and TLC, they do make great "family" dogs

Check out your local lab rescues and DO your homework. Too often these dogs end up in homes because of thier popularity and in turn end up in shelters because thier needs couldn't be met.

Good luck

here are my babies

I have had 2 labs and the one i have now is so energetic. He flattened my brother once. Also when hes in the woods or near the water and wants to run there is no stopping him.
