I know there is a discussion elsewhere regarding tail-docking but I just wanted to show a picture of my friends lovely labrador who had to have his tail taken off due to injury - he was just TOO happy bless him. His tail didn't stop wagging and he ended up with a split/sore on it. The vet could not stitch it and it just would not heal because he kept wagging his tail and it was hitting obstacles in the process. A bit of the tail was taken off to begin with but that didn't heal properly either. In the end a lot more had to go
This is before (you can just see a tail I think - yellow lab on the right):
The other two lovelies are my Sadie (in the middle) and her brother on the left
This is after:
He is incredibly agile and it hasn't affected his balance at all. He is still as happy as ever and the bit of the tail that is left still never stops wagging
