My l25 has been in my tank about 4 months and he is the shyest plec I have ever had. He hides all the time and I try my best to target feed him frozen brine with garlic and spirulina, bloodworm and prawns, I'm not sure whether he gets any cos there are other fish in the tank/

Does anyone havee any tips or experiences to share as I really want him to thrive and grow into a monster scarlett!!

I've had this plec before and I fed it on huge chunks of cucumber which it would devour. Also he ate algae wafers and relished the occasional feed of brineshrimp and daphnia. :)

strange cos they are a carniverous plec and not a veggie so i was hoping to get him settled on meat diet? was he definately a L25 Scarlet?

It's what the store told me, he also loved my malawi mix which he had every day.

firstly, good choice L25's are lovely fish.

L25's do prefer a protein rich diet but veg also seem to be well accepted, mine loves them.

Mine was also extremely shy for a very long time. In fact for several months, he would only come out of his hiding place in reverse, so he could quickly shoot back into his cave at the slightest sign of movement from me. I've never seen another plec act this way. Over time though he has settled in and that particular trait has now disappeared..

As its a carniverous pleco try feeding it a mixed diet, but mainly things like prawns, scolps, mussels, whelks.
