L200A Not Eating

I got a nice L200a on Thursday. Ive not seen it eat anything yet. Ive tried prawns, Blood worm, Mussells and cucumber. Any idea what else I could try?

I had one for almost 2 years until my tank went nuts over a weekend and lost 3/4 of my fish, but in that 2 years I very rarely saw it eat. The only time I ever did see it eat was a few times when I could not sleep and sat on the couch to watch the tank at 3AM. If you put food in and it is gone there you go. Also, if it looks healthy and the stomach is not sunk in then it is eating. they take a lil while to adapt and are very shy. do you have a lot of algae in your tank? could be eating that/

like all plecs I would make sure it is eating. I used to check the bellies of all my plecs just to make sure not sunken cos if they get like that they are hard to pull round

I;d personally put in courgette/zucchini overnight and see if it goes for that as well as brine and bloodworm frozen. don;t put too much in in desperation to see it feed as it may send your water wonky

beautiful fish though especially as they get bigger. Is it a hi fin one? any pics

Yes, It is the high fin one, I was told they prefer meaty food compared to veg. Anyway, Here are some pics.

If it's wild caught (which it would be), many plecs actually come with a host of internal parasites. It won't do any harm to dose it with some Wormer + (http://wormerplus.co.uk/) especially as you have discus.
Btw, I'm not sure about the compatibility of Discus and L200's (in terms of dietary requirements)....

Also, they tend to be very shy fish & nocturnal. Give it plenty of hiding space (that tank looks far too bare - even if it's a quarantine tank). Perhaps if it feels more secure it might start eating.

good point, when i keptr l200 I had l128 ancistrus and l264 in there as well and the phantoms were the shyest

In that case, I will sort some wormer out, Will octozin do the same job??
There are some hiding places in the tank, There is a piece of bog wood and a plant to the other side of the tank, Once it goes into the main tank, There are loads of hiding places for it. I was told be someone on another forum, It was ideal for a discus tank

I wouldn;t wrry about the food aspect for the plec and discus but what you need to check is if the L200 will like being in high temps like the discus?
and just watch out for circular sores on your discus some plecs just turn rogue and start sucking on the discus for the mucus. once they do you can;t stop them

I believe wormer + has some other ingredients too. It's really not expensive so worth having some and using as standard practice in your quarantine tank.

According to the website I looked at before buying, The temp should be ok between 25oC - 30oC Ph 5.5 - 7.5 . My PH is 7 and the temp is 29oC. I just hope it doesnt take a fancy to discus slime
