L191's The Messiest Plec?

Im in awe of how much this plec can poop! Between that and chewing up the bogwood in the tank, the missus is getting fed up of it.... The thing is, it will only get worse as it gets bigger. Its only 1.5" at most at the moment but its in my 65l tank until my 6ft tank is ready in 8 weeks or so. Will it be this bad in a 6ft tank? I know he will get very big, to more than 10x the size he is now will he really make 10x more mess?

i had an L190 in my 6.5 ft tank and i had to sell it due to the amount of waste it produced mine was about 5-6 inches and the day after i cleaned the tank out it looked the same as it did before i cleaned it......

since he has gone the tank looks much cleaner. a shame as they are great looking plecos just not for me any more!

all plecos are known for their waste but the panaques and wood eating plecos have a constant supply of food if you have wood in the tank....

my only pleco i have now is a small super red bristlenose and he poos like there is no tomorrow too

Wood eating plecs are one of the worst. Its mainly because they eat wood. Though it is there proper diet it is very hard for most organisms to break down cellulose, only a few are considered efficient at it. Your pleco is not one of them lol. So he eats alot and poos a lot. It might be worthwhile to maybe research certain types of wood. I'm not terribly familiar with these kinds of plecos. However you would think certain woods would be more nutritious and therefore he wouldn't poop as much...

My LFS has some L204. Do these produce less waste?
