A long while ago i bought a group of 6 kuhli's, 3 black, 3 striped. However, over time, their numbers dwindled down to 3. I bought 3 new black kuhlis last week and they joined the others and made the CO2 ladder their new home.

A couple of days later i disturbed the substrate as i was redecorating half of the tank. This clouded the water badly but it cleared overnight. Since then, the kuhli's have been going crazy, constatly swimming up and down and around in circles at the front of the tank. To start with it was all the kuhli's, but now it's just 2-4, sometimes more, at once.

Is this because the new kulhi's have settled, so the group is more adventurous, or is it due to stress of some kind? The other fish seem fine, carrying on with their normal fishy business.

Normally they settle down after a while. I'm not sure why they swim up and down the glass if you disturb them too much- but as I said, they should stop it after a few days.

It's been 5-6 days since they started.

They swim around like they used to at night when the lights go out. This is what made me question whether it was stress related. It's amazing how they can swim in circles for so long without getting tired or dizzy !
