when I bought my kuhli loaches they were dark, almost black, now they seem to be lightening up a bit
This picture show it, you can see as you get closer to the head the color get lighter.

I added salt to the water, i'm thinking thats the problem. I'm going to do several water changes to get the salt down. But, if it's something else I'd like to know.

They are very active, no sign of problems, when any food gets droped in the tank there out there right away.

ive never seen a khuli like that?!!? i just got 3 khulis on sunday... they were like cream n purple... just the usual colour.. strange that their like that.

if yours are different I'd really like to see a picture

Kuhli loaches are scaleless fish, and can become very irritated if salt is in the water. Usually my kuhli loaches turn lighter shades of color during water changes or other times of stress, so I would advise you to get the salt out of the water immediately and not use it anymore :)

Just curious, but why did you add salt to the water?

way back, with my first tanks, I read it was good. Helped make the fish healthier. Just a small dose though, not like he dose used for treating ich. I think it was an african chicild breader that told me that, I was into them. He explained that there is small amounts of salt in all freshwater, it's natural. Mad sense to me. It never seemed to hurt my other tanks either.
After all the reading i've done here, I'm changing my mind, I don't think it's good, well, maybe like 2 tablespoons in a 55 might not hurt, but in that little does is it even doing anything??
I'll read more, but for a community tank, NO MORE

Cream & purple? I'd lay off the 'special' mushrooms if I were you.

Standard Khulis are gold & black!

hey! mushrooms!... i dont do drugs thanks, if you look at the pic you might just see where im comin from... under my light they look cream and the black bits look purple so ner :p

i dont have any pics im sorry bryang.... unless you wana llend me a camera lol

:p ah! it says on that site that th khuli you got is a black khuli.. it is not ill or anything wrong with it... its just the black khuli type rather than the gold and black ones...(cream and purple)

Here in Southern California, our pet stores are inundated with black kuhli loaches. They seem to always remain smaller than the regular striped Kuhli loach, and very few of them are a true black color. Even the large chain stores carry them for as little as a dollar each. I have several, and I have discovered that they are much more active than striped Kuhlis. They prefer being in schools of five to seven black kuhli loaches.

i dont think theres nethin to worry bout :p :D
