hi, i want to stock bottom dwellers (catfish, loaches, cichlids) and am interested in kribs - however my water is at a ph of 8.2. some people have said this is fine for kribs, others disagree, so i was just wondering what u guys thought?
thanks in advance!

8.2 is very alkaline compared to the usual ph of fish tanks. however kribs would be ok in this water. i have alkaline water, ph is about 8.0 and i've got 2 kribs in my tank. they are quite happy with their water conditions. what size tank do you have? if you get a pair of kribs you would need quite a large tank if you wanted to include many other ottom dwelers. kribs are very territorial.

Yea, I'd say a 3ft tank bare minimum if you want other bottom dwellers!

if i got a pair of cribs, they would be the only bottom dwellers - the tank is 75cmx35cm(w)x35cm(h) - is this big enough?
am glad to hear the ph is ok, i am going to add some mopani wood to the tank and this may bring it down slightly before i add the kribs.
thanks for the help!

Yea, thats a nice size for them! You might just find that the pH in your tap water is high at the minute, so next time you do a water change it might come down a bit anyway!
