I have had my female krib for years she has been single since i got her. She is fully grown and a few days ago I decided to get her a male friend.
The young male is 2 3rds her size .
She is chasing him but see no damage on him. He is enjoying and happy looking for food and curious like the usual krib behaviour. I have plenty of hiding places in tank with a new breeding Cove in corner I placed in at the same time as him. Will they pair possibly when he gets bigger or am I wasting my time?
Thanks.

They should be fine but it depends on if she likes him enough. If she doesn't like him they probably won't breed or they might breed but the female will chase him away and look after her babies by herself.

The best way to pair cichlids off is to get a group and let them find their own partners. Then you move that pair or the other cichlids out of the tank.
