Once I get another tank, I'd really like to get a knifefish. I've done a goodly amount of research on the Black Ghost Knife, and I think that's what I'll get. I would, however, like to make sure about the other kinds of knives so I don't make the wrong choice.
I get the impression that clown knives are a bit larger and/or more agressive. Is this true?
Also, what is the difference (other than appearance) between the black ghost knife and the african brown knife? Is there one?
Don't worry about glass knives, none of my LFS seem to carry them so I'm not going to worry about getting one right now.
Thanks! :)

Oh yes. Here's a wild caught clown knife.

I know African knifes stay around 8 or 9 inches (smaller than a BGK) and do not have electrical sonar, so they can see perfectly fine (unlike a BKG). I think I've read that they are also less aggressive and can be kept with more passive fish. I also saw one in the pet store the other day and thought they were awfully cute (more that a Black Ghost Knife.).

I have a African and he is growing SLOWLY. He only had a time when he got twice his size in a week or so and isn't hard to take care of. I get about 2 dozen guppies for my knife every 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 weeks. They definately are a lot cuter. Just make sure you have A LOT of caves and dark to pitch black spots but also a lot of lighted spots. :)
