If i get a black ghost knife fish will he eat his tankmates. Will there be room for him. I am planning on having him in my 55 with 2 yellow labs and 2 psuedotropheus zebra ( don't know common name. They each get like 5" Is this big enought? Also i want an unidentified 7" Plec. I have been watching him at the LFs and he hasn't grown any in like a month.

Ok that should be good. Just keep in mine he needs a big cave of somesort. An he will grow up to 17 inchs. He will also only eat bloodworms. Hope this helps.

ok. I have this big shipwreck thing and iam pretty sure he could fit in. Also i can get bloodworms real cheap bcuz my friend works at the LFS

It may eventually outgrow the 55 gallon, but if that happens, let me know, and I'll find a home for it. Final Dynazty is right that they usually (almost always) only grow to 17 or 18", but they can get to 2'. When it gets larger (if it gets to 20" or above), then your Pseudotropheus may be in danger, BGK's have pretty big mouths, even though at first glance they look like they have tiny mouths. Anyway, yeah man, go for it! These are great fish!

yeah thanx man. I work at a Lfs so i would have no problem gettin rid of him if i had to. What is a Pseudotropheus?

They're Malawian cichlids. I believe that they're primarily bottom dwelling, but I'm not sure (I've never kept them, I've just kept Tropheus).

Thx. I will hit u up for help re-homing him if he outgrows the tank. it would be hard for me bcuz like 2 people in the immediate area have fish tanks and one is my friends 5 gallon.

P. zebra. The ones i am getting are blue

Final Dynazty. I just noticed u have iredescent sharks. Don't they get huge?

just a Q but where in NY are u bcuz My LFS is really boring and i may just have to order it online. Also does anyone have anyplans for moonlights?

If they haven't grown does that mean it's true that fish only grow to the size of the tank? I have never really figured that one out.

In no circumstance is that true. That's where a lot of hobbyists get into trouble, where lfs staff or someone else tells them that. FD was just backing up how we said that BGKs grow VERY slowly. I know how feel about boring lfs. I've only got a petsmart around here, and I have to drive 70 miles to find the decent ones, and even if I didn't want to do that, petsmart's still 15 miles away. :(

I have a couple of young BKK's and as well as the frozen bloodworms they ove spirulina enriched Brine shrimp and flake!
