i need to know more of how to care for my knife fish and i heard they have an electrical charge if so will it effect its tank mates

The electrical charge will not effect your tank mates. it is a very weak current which is only used to navigate and find food in murky water. I'v never kept a brown ghost but I'v got a black ghost? are they simular?

ste :)

the brown ghost is thinner and can grow to lengths of 12" and has a full fin on its bottom from top to bottom and has a dark brown color and a light stripe down its back

i put some guppies in last night and this morning they were still there why isn't he eating or will it take a couple of days for him to accomidate to the tank

[/QUOTE]I presume you are talking about the african brown knife fish, a distant relative of the black ghost knife which comes from south america.
Actually he isn't i bought a brown ghost knifefish today they were the first i have ever see (he was £4.95 one of my best buys). Here is some info:

Found Throughout guyana, brazil andPeru the brown ghost knifefish or Apteronotus Leptorhynchus grows to 40cm in the wild but 25cm in captivity. Kep the same way as you would keep a blck ghost.

I am trying to find out if i could put him in with my black ghost. If anyone knows if i can please reply.

i see u also have a brown ghost mine looks exacly like that and is currently 4-5 inches long ive noticed 4 guppies have gone missing in the last 2 nights i think hes eating

Since a brown and black are both "electric" fish...all the literature says NOT to keep them together. Also on the flip side they will also have to compete with each other AND defend a territory. I am not god on the subject by far but from everything I have read only 1 electric fish should be kept in a tank at a time. Now if you were talking about a huge tank...that might be different.
