Knife Fish!

got a clown knife fish about 8'' and a ghost knife 4'' at the mo both in the same tank and seem to be getting on quite well the tank is a juwel vision 180. wot size tank sould i get to move them into in the future and will they always get on together. both being in in the same tank for about a year now

The clown will need a very large (think 200 gallons+) tank as it can get to 3 feet long and weigh just under 5 kg. Clowns are reknowned for being aggressive so I would expect it to start hassling the ghost not too long after it hits a foot long.

I would not want to house adults of both species in the same tank.

thanx will look and purchasing a new tank in the next few weeks, wot fish would you advise me to keep with them in the future

I am unsure on the clown having never kept it, and can't remember anyone with a full grown adult. I know CFC had(has?) one, so he will be able to advise better than I.

I keep my 2 BGK with larger fairly peaceful fish (bala sharks, plecs, lima shovelnoses and Chalceus spp.)

imo the clown knife will eventually kill the bgk tank mates for clown knives should be chosen carefully i keep my 13" ck with other large oddballs like bichirs and a fire eel and a gar.tank size id say 6x2x2 minimum but you may have to upgrade to something wider

thanx will do a bit of research into the fish i can keep, and purchase a larger tank
