so keeping 2 black ghost knifes together can be questionable because of the electricity current they use to get around but does that affect other knife species as well or could one live with a similar size clown knife for a while with out stress or conflict

I have seen a clown knife and a african knife work with a bgk. I believe that those two knives, which I think are Asian and African (as opposed to south american), do not use electrical fields. Some people will say that the bgk will work just fine with another but ime it does not.

its a temp thing im just making sure that no one will get cranky or stressed and have bad effects

Any chance of putting a divider in? If it is just temporary, I would just do that.

Electric fish of more than one species (and often more than one specimen within a species) shouldn't be mixed. There are exceptions, like "baby whale" things (Pollimyrus spp.), that are social and not terribly aggressive towards other fish. But by default, be cautious.

As you may know, not all knifefish are "electric". The Asian and African species are not; only the South American species are. With the Asian and African species, the issue is basic, run of the mill territoriality.
