Knife Fish Colour

ive got a black ghost knife fish when i got him he had the usual white strip on nose and at tip of tail noticed that as hes growing he is getting a white bit on his under fin, is this normal for it to develope as he gets older as i had seen ones with this white tip to their under fins before i got him and was bemused why he didnt have it .

someone please correct me if im wrong but i think that many if not all fish change colours or marking as they grow and mature

Nope the white nose and the white bit on the "tail" are perfectly common markings .
