just brought some Kleen Off Ammonia, the one that is recommended by alot of people on here and on the net, when i shook the bottle it foamed up on top , is that right ?
i thought if it foamed ,you could'nt use it for a fishless cycle . shall i throw it away and use a differnt brand that does'nt foam ?

chris.

Can you list the ingredients exactly as they're listed please?

Doesn't sound too good, tbh, but as Soybean says, check the ingredients list.

I used the Kleen Off ammonia to cycle my tank.

Assuming you have the same stuff as me, there are no ingredients listed on the bottle, but there is a website: www.ukconsumerinfo.com which says by law they have to give a website where the ingredients are listed. I went to the website and found the relevant page - the only ingredient is ammonium hydroxide, which I'm assuming is a fancy way of saying ammonia mixed with water.

A few bubbles are okay as long as they disappear quickly. Is this the stuff you've got? http://www.skevi.com...ges/3550080.jpg

there are no ingredients listed , yes cezzaXV that is the exact stuff and the guy who has listed it says it is ok for cycling fish tanks. ?

here is a link to what i brought.

does enyone else get foam when you shake the bottle ?

As long as the bubbles disperse fairly quickly and are obviously not foaming agents, it's fine. Even water will bubble up if you shake it hard enough.

That stuff is fine to cycle with, go ahead.

thank you for your help ,i will use it, i just wanted to be sure.

I even went as far as to email the company to ask. Their reply

Our Kleenoff Ammonia is 9.5% Ammonia & the rest is water.

Ammonium hydroxide is NH[sub]4[/sub][sup]+[/sup]OH[sup]-[/sup]. It is the ionic form of ammonia (which is NH[sub]3[/sub]) and water (H[sub]2[/sub]O).

NH[sub]4[/sub][sup]+[/sup] + OH[sup]-[/sup] <--> NH[sub]3[/sub] + H[sub]2[/sub]O
