Here's my shopping list for my kitten. I'm not sure what i should add though
Kitten Shopping List
Litter Box
Litter(?, might have some from my other cats)
Fancy Feast Wet Food
Pro Plan dry food
2 food dishes
1 water dish
career
career pad
lots of toys
harness
leash

can't think of much more

you may want a bed, or blankets for it, i know baby animals like to snuggle, also a cat carrier, i know some vets don't let dogs in without leashes, and cats have to be in their carriers, also some animals ike to have a teddy bear or plushy stuffed animal to chew on and to be friends with.

a collar, maybe one with a little bell so you can find it? hehe

uhm, i have never had a cat lol so I really don't know what else you would be missing

My list for a new cat would be:

Litter Box
Litter
Scoop
One Food Bowl
One water Bowl
And
a few toys.

Cats are low maintenance pets. Or at least ours is. Feed them, water them, change litter box once a week, and pet them.
Then they love you forever.

Oh and cat food. :p

Well, we are getting a nice career for him because we have to pick him up from seattle, and its an 1 1/2 drive

p.s. My mom just talked to leslie(f.felines) and we are getting him on saturday!!!

Oooo shopping is fun!

I picked up these food dishes for my kitties, I thought they were so cute!

Haha, those are cutre, i especially love pet shopping!

I always shop around for a good vet, no matter what animal I get.
Make sure the food you have for it is very similar if not the same as the person that has it. Don't want an upset stomach.

Yep. I already talked to the shelter, and she feeds Pro Plan dry food and Fancy Feast wet food.

I would suggest adding a scratching post to your list as most cats like to sharpen their claws on whatever is available.

Unfortunately, shelters have to feed cheaper food. It's usually donated food or they're able to buy it in bulk at a reduced price. Once you've had the kitten for a bit, I would wean over to a holistic food. You can buy it in both dry and wet. I have a free feeder for Sasha for her dry food and every other day or so, I give her about 1/3 can of wet food. I just switched her brand over so I can gather that information once I'm home.

Also, indoor cats have different food requirements than outdoor cats (but please, keep your cats indoors unless you have an enclosed area for them outdoors). :good:

You got that right. My cats have torn up the couch I had, even with a scratching post. They dont do it quite as much now with the post though.

I suggest looking for a good vet first of all...and treats!! Although you have to remember not to feed too many treats, no matter how much the kitty begs. Just about 5-6 treats per week, although less is better.
I also suggest having a little kitty first-aid kit in the house. I think they are really good, especially for kittens because they are often very curious and get into trouble! I think it should include:
Body Wipes (found at most pet shops)
Gauze (found at most drug stores)
Small scissors (found almost everywhere :p )
Kitty Eye Drops or other eye products that treat general eye infections (found at most pet shops, there's one from Dr. Goodpet that has always worked for me)
Your Vet's Card (ask your vet for one, always go to your vet for any problems)
Kitty Ear Drops or other ear products that treat general ear infections (found at most pet shops, there's one from Dr. Goodpet, never tried it but it should be good)
Hydrogen Peroxide (found at most drugstores, really good for minor wounds)
Clean blanket/towel
Cotton Balls or Pads
Tweezers
Other medications recommended by your vet.
A small book on cat diseases, or some pages on cat diseases printed online, so you can recognize what's wrong with your cat and what to do
Thermometer
Adhesive Tape (found at most drug stores)
Latex Gloves
Flea and Tick Treatments
You can keep it all in a case or box or whatever, and whenever your cat gets hurt or sick you'll probably know what to do. Remember though, it's just for before you call your vet, if there is any problem always call your vet, but use the kit while you're waiting. Also, always replace any meds when they expire.
Also I'd include: brush, and nail clippers.

We already have a vet for the other 2 cats, ivy and spunks, and this vet has known one of our cats, Spunky, since she was born(16yrs)
