I want some snails for my 6-gallon tank. Is that a good idea?? My dad thinks it's alright, but I want to make sure. What kind of snails are good and how many. I don't want to end up having a million so I was thinking the bigger snails. It said somewhere that it's hard to make bigger snails have babies.......that's good for me!! I'm just trying to do the right thing with snails!! Please help!

You could get a type of Apple Snail, a Mystery Snail, or an Inca Snail. There's different colors and types, so you could do a little research to find out what's ideal for your tank. I think aquatic snails are neat! :p I had a Golden Mystery Snail but he mysteriously died. I liked him for the 24 hours I had him though, hehe. Anyways, make sure you have no salt in your water if you want a snail, and don't add any salt either. It'll kill it. :X And you don't want the small snails (pond snails) you find in the live plant tanks in many lfs because they will reproduce like crazy. So good luck, I think you'd enjoy having a larger snail.

Hi! I have black mystery snails. Generally, they don't breed like crazy. Mine have been lately, though, but no more than one baby every week or two... it's not an overwhelming amount of tiny little snails, its actually kind of pleasing to find a baby every now and then. On ebay, you can find lots of blue, and ivory mystery snails that are VERY pretty. Have fun!

You will find that if you get some plants, you usually get some snail eggs on them. Whenever I get platns I get the same type there really small I'm not that sure what type (i'm not much of a snail man) but I know that they don't eat plants and they don't grow big at all (.8cm). However you may need to cull the little ones everynow and then
