Hello EMO. So, what's your idea? Typically, you have a standard fish tank and fill it. Put in an air stone to keep the oxygen in the tank water and allow the tank to run for a couple of days to establish a constant water temperature. Then, you add some plants in a type of spa basket and place the basket on top of the fish tank. You immerse the plant roots in the water with the plant above and out of the water. You can hang a light strip from the local hardware store above the the plants to provide lighting. Then, allow the tank to run for several days. You can introduce a few hardy fish like Guppies, Platys or a species of minnow like White Clouds. The plant roots will take in the nitrogen from the fish waste. These types of tanks don't require water changes. The water lost to evaporation is replaced with distilled water. This way, there's no build up of minerals that would harm the fish. The plants keep the water free of pollutants and by simply feeding the fish a little every day or two, the plants get their nutrients. Is this what you had in mind?
