Okay, so apparently I posted back in 2014 on this forum and I'm back again. I mainly go by EMO online. Currently have the thirty gallon from my dad in my own house. Going for an aquaponic set up this time as it's my newest fixation. Also have a ten and a fifteen gallon that I also may set up at some point. Anyhow, uh, yea. I guess that's really it.

Welcome back EMO.Post some pics of your tanks once you set them up.

Hello EMO. So, what's your idea? Typically, you have a standard fish tank and fill it. Put in an air stone to keep the oxygen in the tank water and allow the tank to run for a couple of days to establish a constant water temperature. Then, you add some plants in a type of spa basket and place the basket on top of the fish tank. You immerse the plant roots in the water with the plant above and out of the water. You can hang a light strip from the local hardware store above the the plants to provide lighting. Then, allow the tank to run for several days. You can introduce a few hardy fish like Guppies, Platys or a species of minnow like White Clouds. The plant roots will take in the nitrogen from the fish waste. These types of tanks don't require water changes. The water lost to evaporation is replaced with distilled water. This way, there's no build up of minerals that would harm the fish. The plants keep the water free of pollutants and by simply feeding the fish a little every day or two, the plants get their nutrients. Is this what you had in mind?

So at first I was planning on using tubing to cycle through the three tanks I own, but then I worried about power outages and all the water flooding house. So I'm starting with the thirty and thinking of using a cut up pool noodle in some stockings to keep growing media and using orbeez as the grow medium. I'm starting with herbs at first and maybe a lettuce, not sure. I plan to use mollies, platies, cory cats and possibly gouramies for my fish.
The last time I did aquaponic it was in a one gallon kit and no matter what I did the set up kept failing. So I just sized it up and am going from there.

I'm putting this here, but I'm also enjoying the fact that the number of thread posts has 420 and 69 in it. I'm a grown adult with a young boys humor I guess.
