the heat got turned up on my angel tank I looked over and all the angels were in one spot staring at me.....looked at thermometer and it read 87degrees...I usually have it on 79-80....I am sure it happened within the past 4 hours.....
how slowly do I need to bring it down?
Will this harm the fish...the heat going up so fast? :*)
This is the tank my pair is in.

I remember now why I quit my aquarium hobby 6 yrs ago....I had toddlers in the house....well those 3 have grown up to know better, but now I have 3 more toddlers...will it ever end? :hyper:

I think your best of turning down the temp by a degree every few hours to avoid shock but some else might have better advice than me.

So hang on mampish

Just switch off the heater and let the tank cool down naturally, when it gets down to the required temp switch the heater back on,with the thermostat set to its normal setting of course.

Oh and then go and beat the kids to withion an inch of their lives so they know not to do it again    ............(i am joking)

Great......TY very much......

oops......too late, already beat 'um!

 Kidding!!

They love helping me take care of the "pish", sometimes they are just a bit too much help!

I have learned to treat the dried food like the chemicals...I keep it out of reach!
Now I am going to move the heater to the other side....it is on the side where a chair is they stand in to look at the "pish"

I am just glad I caught it when I did...it was cranked all the way up....and the heater is really to big for the tank it is in, so we would have been having fish soup for supper !

Ya know it's funny you suggest that, I had a similar thing happen to me. I think it happened when my mum was vacuming and she unplugged the heater socket (any other one would have been fine...but nooo...) and it was left like that for a few months, and they were all fine. Most of the time the heater isn't heating but I always kept saying, man the heater is never on and I really was right, it wasn't.

my grandson is real good for tricks like that is your eggs hatched yet I bought me 2 angels but i dont know how to sex them one of mine looks like it is blushing with bright red blush on it to its just a baby the other one is the size of a half of dollar the one that is blushing is quarter size

my angel babies are hatched...wiggling like crazy....and every once and a while one will take off swimming ....or tryin to.....they should all be swimming within the next 24 hrs.....I think I have around 100-150 left so far....but who could count them!!
I get to 25 and then I just kinda see how much space they take up and guess!

The only way to know what sex they are is to actually see their spawning tubes...I had a guess of which was which...but I was wrong!the male has a smaller tube, and the female has a larger/ wider one.

If you want to raise angels it is wise to get several and raise them together and let them pair off.

I have 4 more adults working on that right now....I am thinking I will get 1 more pair out of them.

Good luck with yours....I really enjoy them
:D
