Kribensis Cichlid (Pelvicachromis pulcher) are actually an African Cichlid from lake Victoria. I believe that these guys will breed on their own (pair up.) But, you should post in the African section for better information.

Hey Chenny,

I actually used to have a pair of kribs in my 55 gallon. The best way to go about it is either to get 1/2 a coconut shell; or you can use 1/2 a clay pot (either way it has to be a cave). Once the cave is set up the pair should build it up around the entrance to the point where you can barely see into it and they should spawn and the female will stay in the cave with the eggs and the male will guard them on the outside of the cave. Watch for increased aggression during spawning.

Hi Chenny :)

Kribs are quite easy to breed, so you shouldn't have too much difficulty. There's some info up here.

Kribs aren't naturally found in Lake Victoria - they have a fairly wide distribution around Southern Nigeria and the coastal regions of Cameroon, though they have been found to occur off the coast of Victoria in Sierra Leone :)

Oh okay, thanks for that information. For some reason I always thought they where from one of the lakes, but then again, my knowledge in African Cichlids is very limited.

Hehe yeah I don't know much myself in all honesty.. though I was reading up on Lake Victoria the other day (Wikipedia) and how the Nile Tilapia forced the extinction of numerous species in the lake :(
