hi everyone :)

i didn't think that i would like them, they look like small snakes, but i'm glad my husband went and bought 3 khuli loaches last night when i was at work :X i have to admit they are fun to watch and kind of cute.

my question. is there anything special that we need to feed them or do they just eat what makes it to the bottom? the tank is very deep and i'm afraid that not enough food will make it to the bottom. :-(

i think there is some kind of fish food for loaches i don't have any loaches so im not to sure but ask an assiatant that works at a fish store when you go buy some food im sure they can help, :D

Hi zull,

This website is a fantastic source of info for loaches - it should tell you what you need

thanx platypus, great article, answered all my questions. i just hope that my water isn't to warm, it sits at 80. :-(

Hmm not sure - maybe keep an eye on them or see if other members who own them have found 80º is too high? I have never had them myself - my boyf had the same aversion to him that you did - but I haven't figured out how to talk him round yet! How did your husband do it? I love kuhlis and I really want some!

my husband and daughter had talked about them and pointed them out at our lfs and i said no way, they looked like snakes. i like snakes but not in my tank.

he bought them last night when i was at work, they are cute and i keep looking for them now. i can't get mad at him though it was our 20th annivsary gift to each other and i got my angles which he isn't too fond of.

thanx for asking platypus.

Hello Zull :D

I'm glad you like your kuhli loaches. They are cute little guys, very playfull and funny when they are not hiding in the gravel. If you ever see horsehead loaches in the lfs, you will find they are cute too and mix well with the kuhliis. Do not hesitate to buy a few.

I was going to say that the kuhli loaches will eat whatever your cory cats eat, but when I checked your list I saw that you don't have any corys. I did, however, see something else that you might want to be aware of.

You have a gourami in the same tank as your angel fish, and that is not always a good combination. Don't get alarmed, but if you see any signs of aggression by your angels toward the gourami, you will probably want to move one or the other.

i had seen some others that had problems, and we hummed and hawed about putting the angels in, so far no problems, the angels are very small and the tank very big.

if there is a problem in the future maybe it will give me the excuss to get another tank. lol

thanx for the warning inchworm, greatly appreciated.

kuhliis are adorable, give them a few small shells and they'll all pile under them. i should get pictures of my kuhlii party; all four shoved under a teeny shell, tails and heads poking this way and that. it's cute ^^

mine eat anything that falls, EXCEPT if it's SUPPOSED to fall -sigh- get some chunky foods that your fish don't touch, or do a purpose 'overfeed' (just a little bit more...) and watch the kuhliis dine in their funny fashion =)
