How many to a 10 gallon? If any at all... I've read online that you'd need a minimum of 20 gallons, but if I remember correctly someone on this forum has khuli loaches in a 10 gal.

Thanks.

They get to an adult size of three to four inches, so *if* you're following the inch-per-gallon rule, you could have three, and not much else. I would not recommend keeping them in a ten gallon. The number you could have in there though, if you decide to do so, depends on what kind(s) of other fish you have in there and how many.

1 dwarf puffer, should have mentioned that earlier...

I kept kuhlis and DPs together in a 10 gallon with no problems at all. 3 dp, 5 black kuhlis (about 3"), and a yellow algae eater. Since the kuhlis are so narrow (like a tube) and they like to congregate in tight spaces the 1" per G doesn't really apply. If you only have one DP I think you should be fine with a few kuhlis.

Note: make sure you know if your DP was bred in the wild or in captivity. If it was the wild the skin can be poisonous and harmful to the kuhlis who will graze on a dead body if they find one. The same would go for just about any other fish kept with a puffer.

I have 5 in a 10 gallon at the moment and they do fine. They mostly hide since they're cowards and run at the sight of anything. I wouldn't do more than 5 or 6 adults in a 10 gallon. The inch per gallon rule doesn't apply to them as they're A) community fish that "school" B) their body mass is smaller as they're slender and C) that rule is grossly inaccurate a lot of the time.
